At Sony Pictures our mission is to produce beloved Films and TV series and distribute it to audiences across transactional, subscription, and linear viewing platforms. Our content includes franchises such as Spiderman, Jumanji, Ghostbusters, Breaking Bad, Seinfeld, and the biggest Anime IPs.
Our team is responsible for bringing access and advanced analytical action to millions of consumer data points to understand our audiences’ preferences and behaviors and drive insight-based business decisions to empower growth across the studio. This entails partnering with the business units to assess their needs and co-create data products as well as best in-class audience and content analyses, consumer trends prediction systems, recommendation modeling and more to help move the needle on business performance.
In this position, the Manager will work as part of the Business Partnerships team, with the responsibility to become trusted thought-leader to partners across our studio, helping identify needs and frame strategic data and advanced analytics opportunities and collaborate between the business and technical teams to bring it to life. Our ultimate goal is unlock access to data and unlock analytics-driven stories that enable growth across our studio’s production labels and brands, marketing teams, and sales distribution teams.
Who are you?
You are eager to learn about the different commercial teams across Sony Pictures, understand their business models, and have a strong analytics background to be a collaborative thought leader that infuses analytics into business decision-making. You also understand the art of relationship building and service-based influencing across a diverse and matrixed organization.
You understand how to frame and organize analytical initiatives, develop, and manage project scopes and deliverables, and can synthesis complex analyses into simple and cohesive stories or recommendations to help drive business decision-making. You are also familiar with advanced analytics outputs and have worked in environments where Machine Learning and data-science based prediction models fuel business outcome.
Finally, you can translate business requirements into clear technical and analytics briefs, and strong program and project management skills to manage multiple analytics projects of varied size and scale to fruition. Your story-telling skills and ability to synthesize complex concepts and analytical insights into meaningful concepts for key partners across the studio will be the additional unlock for your success.
What will you do?
You will work with business stakeholders across the studio and collaborate with Data Managers, Data Scientists, and our Advanced Analytics teams to do the following:
Learn about the various studios business models, processes, and goals and connect that to analytics and data needs to help them unlock more potential.
Experience framing analytics and data briefs, being able to distill business problems, key analytics and data requirements as well as the measures of success and test frameworks needed to yield value.
Program manage the end to end process or data & analytics solution ideation, brief development, solutioning evaluation and then delivery execution.
Continually engage stakeholders to drive adoption, interpret and translate analytics in the voice of the commercial teams, and maintain further business analytical needs
Understand and be an advocate for our suite of analytical products and services
Master the art of storytelling and data visualization in a way that impacts their decision-making.
Analyze and deliver audience insights, recommendations as a means of opportunity creation with business stakeholders.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in strategy or management consulting, data and advanced analytics fueled agency or product.
Hands-on experience running and presenting analytics studies and projects to drive business decision making and planning is a must. Nice to have is experience in testing methodology and media based performance assessment.
Bachelor’s Degree and/or MBA in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or similar degree from an accredited university
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively partner and collaborate with cross-divisional functions and external partners
Understanding of analytics with ability to translate business objectives into data and analytical requirements. Familiarity with the distinct types of analytics – descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive as well as data-science and ML models is desired.
Ability to learn new business models and how the analytics can impact business levers
Skilled in strategic analyses, analytic modeling, and creating business frameworks
Know how to navigate various datasets (social media, set-top box, direct-to-consumer, industry research, etc.) and pick-up what variables matters!
Ability to draw well-integrated conclusions and tell a cohesive story through models and presentations
Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables
Strong sense of ownership and urgency
Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau (or Periscope) skills
Excellent written communication, oral communication, and presentation abilities
