REQ ID JR23-10290 Apply View Saved JobsThe Manager, Finance role is responsible for supporting and managing the FP&A process in conjunction with production finance management of Imageworks, a Sony Pictures Entertainment Company. The role will manage budget/forecast, review of actuals and take the lead in day-to-day production and operational financial support. This role is responsible for understanding the various financial and production labor tracking systems to ensure financial data is flowing properly to meet the reporting needs of Imageworks productions and assist with the forecast and planning process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Budget, Forecasting, and Planning:
- Assist in the preparation of forecasts, budget, and mid-range (4-year) plan
- Analyze production project cashflows for preparation of forecast/budget/planning
- Review production spend by facility (USA and Canada)
- Assist in analyzing production headcount
- Analyze production third party spend by project (direct variable)
- Preparation of amortization and cashflow schedule for tracking of hardware/software maintenance contracts
- Coordinate Capital project details (work w/Technology team) and related depreciation expense for forecasting and planning
- Analyze cash receipts by project and remaining to go for all projects
- Prepare production overhead budget, tracking, and variance analysis
- Constant partnership with production overhead department leads to ensure adequate tracking of production overhead against budget/forecast
- Responsible for preparation and uploading templates and deliverables into BPC and APOLLO for Corporate reporting and consolidations (Budget/Forecast/MRP)
- Production Support and Reporting:
- Become expert on all activities related to payroll processing and system interfaces (UKG, CIPS, Baby CIPS, Timekeeper, and Management Portal)
- Resolve any payroll systems errors by partnering with SAP support, production accounting, payroll, and P&O (IDOC Error Clearing)
- Management of bi-annual review of ratecard assumptions
- Manage Facility Fees recoupment against projects to highlight proper expense recoupment of department expenses to projects
- Work closely with production accounting team to accurately reflect production spend in financials and review for reasonableness based on production assumptions and burn-rates
- Analyze revenue recognition on all projects to ensure percentage of completion accounting method is properly being applied to all projects and accurately captured in financial statements
- Highlight idle capacity issues on a timely basis
- Oversee compliance of policy of production expenditures (i.e. manage procurement cards and any other production/facility related expense management)
- Assist in the annual preparation of the Canadian Production Tax Credit submission
- Assist in any production audit request (internal/external)
- Responsible for all Senior Management financial reporting: Management book, overhead analyses, and overhead project reporting
- Collaborate and provide financial support to the Technology team to ensure proper CAPEX project spend, adherence to capital accounting rules, assess impairment of fixed assets, and track against budget and forecast targets
- Management of the Production Finance Associate and Payroll Analyst
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- CPA or MBA preferred
- 3-4 years of relevant accounting/finance experience (project accounting preferred)
- Experience in any or all of 1) transforming legacy manual processes into integrated digital/automated processes, 2) data intensive models/forecasting and 3) cost allocation analytics
- Excellent project management, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively and meet all deadlines
- Ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on department objectives
- Advanced Excel required
- SAP/BW knowledge a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical
- Experienced supervisor – 2 staff
