Funimation is looking for an experienced digital/social marketer to join the Audience Development team and help deliver our fan-centric mission with highly creative ideas that support the Funimation brand and our licensed franchises, enabling us to build a more personal relationship with fans via our most engaging digital channels. The Audience Development team at Funimation supports the company’s omni-channel businesses and is responsible for piloting emerging and innovative ideas through community management, social media governance, influencer marketing, and editorial and content marketing. In this position, you live and breathe anime, and the culture surrounding it, simultaneously possessing the business acumen to meet business goals while working across departments to deliver exceptional programs and executions.

To truly be successful in this role, you must have a passion for anime, geek/pop culture, and fandom with the ability to apply critical, creative thinking and strategic decision-making to drive business results. Expertise in dank anime memes won’t hurt either. This role could be based in either LA (Culver City) or Dallas. (Flower Mound).


  • Strategically finding ways to use digital channels, social media, and emerging content to deepen our relationship with our audiences, drive tune-in, viewership, and streaming subscriptions, grow our digital/social channel footprint, and leverage all organic marketing efforts to reach users in meaningful and engaging ways
    • Including but not limited to: Seasonal plans for 1st-Window streaming, Franchise/Tentpole titles, theatrical and home entertainment releases; Funimation brand campaigns for awareness and conversions; Experiential and convention activation campaigns
  • Managing incoming social project requests, timelines, deliverables and stakeholder communication
    • Content creation that includes a mix of social posts, blog posts, original content series, and influencer campaigns
    • Develop concepts and scripts for social videos and podcasts
    • Partner with creative team on photo and video shoots for social content
  • Maintaining weekly social media reporting dashboards and track KPIs that will be utilized to develop and support business strategy and provide insight to licensors, internal stakeholders, and AudDev team
    • Co-manage content performance, social listening, competitive analysis, and response management reporting with the Community & Social Media Manager
  • Continuously develop and contribute to our social media best practices, with regular experimentation, research, and professional development; be willing to perform abilities beyond your areas of expertise

To measure success in this role, the work you produce will:

  • Track, measure and analyze performance across all campaigns and make strategic optimizations to achieve and exceed brand and growth KPIs
    • Contribute to the significant growth of Funimation’s owned digital/social footprint
    • Increase traffic to and natural search index ranking
    • Increase fan/customer sentiment and engagement/Content Response Score
    • Grow streaming viewership and subscriptions
  • Ensure all influencer marketing campaigns are delivered on-time, on-strategy, and on-budget
  • Contribute to the growth and development of direct reports
  • Foster a collaborative cross-functional culture


  • B.A. Degree  in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, PR, Film/TV, or related field, preferred
  • 5+ years of professional social media experience (strategy, process, governance)
  • 5+ years of marketing campaign experience (concept, planning, integration, reporting)
  • 5+ years of digital content creation/production experience (audio/video, blogging/writing, photo)
  • Demonstrated expertise of major social media platforms and technologies, how to tailor content by platform, and what kind of content works best to meet specific marketing or business goals
    • You can clearly articulate what content belongs on what channel and why
    • Strong command of the social media landscape across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Snapchat, Reddit, Twitter, and Twitch
    • Be an expert on the latest social media and influencer trends and tools, providing recommendations on new channels to test and develop new content and engagement ideas
  • Demonstrate experience developing business cases and ROI analyses that secure additional marketing investment for social media activities
  • High degree of proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • A passion for the anime, geek/pop culture lifestyle and fandom communities
  • Strong sense of internet culture and trends in content and storytelling
  • Dependability, follow-through, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle extensive multi-tasking and meeting multiple deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to forge positive relationships
  • Extremely well-organized and detail oriented
  • Business acumen, and understanding of how to present yourself in business situations
  • Thrives in a high-energy, fast-paced, collaborative environment, is a flexible individual, creative thinker, and problem solver, accustomed to working in teams
  • Ability to take and provide direction
