The Manager of Financial Operations is responsible for all TV production revenue and cash inflows for Sony Pictures Television Productions and its subsidiaries, as well as Domestic Ad Sales and Digital Home Entertainment. This position is responsible for all financial and accounting functions as is related to billing processing & distribution, revenue, and receivables inclusive of budgeting, forecasting/cash flows, accounts receivable accounting, banking, and studio billing.

The Manager of Financial Operations will work directly with the Production Executives, Producers, Associate Producers, Production Managers, Coordinators, Production Accountants, Sales Associates as well as with vendors, customers, Finance Management, Business Affairs, Studio Payroll and AP and be responsible to bill and collect all TV production receivables for respective TV shows.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage various monthly AR and Bad Debt reports for TV Production and Home Entertainment and coordinating with cross functional teams to reduce open AR metrics and KPIs
  • Provide business decision support through TVP expertise and data mining
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of complex calculations for all revenue based on contractual terms with various networks and studios
  • Knowledge of foreign currency and related production accounting to develop user interface design
  • Collate complex calculations across all lines of business to ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly revenue summaries
  • Meet with internal and external auditors to ensure SOX compliance across all functions and be able to justify all exceptions
  • Responsible for planning and executing the migration of various service providers across multiple Finance divisions
  • Collaborate with Participation team and senior level executives to sign off on all 3rd party audits
  • Advise Business Affairs on contractual verbiage regarding billing and audits
  • Lead cross functional teams in process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
  • Conduct Agile projects and be the product owner in multimillion dollar IT projects for new implementation

Requirements:

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance
  • 5+ years TV Production Accounting experience
  • 3+ years of leading cross functional IT projects
  • Project management experience in Agile
  • Strong aptitude to coach and mentor staff to succeed
  • Ability to read and interpret complex agreements and guild contracts
  • Knowledge of all aspects of production and post production and billing
  • Knowledge of TV Network-Broadcast/Cable/Digital and their respective billing procedures and policies
  • Strong knowledge of TV production from development to the post production stage
  • Ability to interpret complex business agreements and perform calculations for revenue and billing
  • Strong working knowledge of WGA, DGA, SAG/AFTRA and the calculation of production cost reimbursement as they deal with these guilds.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of residuals
  • Understanding of IA contract and the calculation of escalations and guild mandated agreements.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to deal with many layers of management and production at various networks and studios
  • Ability to understand and communicate to production personnel on production issues impacting cost reimbursements
  • Strong production accounting / production audit experience and knowledge
  • Ability to negotiate and collect on complex agreements and interpretation of deals
  • Proactive leader who has strong follow-through on all projects; ability to bring projects to timely completion
  • Ability to interface with all levels of senior management
  • Ability to problem-solve and quickly grasp new concepts
  • Detail-oriented; strong organizational, analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Advanced MS Excel/Access knowledge
  • Working knowledge and prior experience with SAP/Vista is needed
The anticipated base salary for this position is $94,500 to $125,200. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
