Sony Pictures Game Shows is seeking a Director of Mobile Games and Interactive Licensing to lead the strategic growth, development, and licensing of our mobile gaming and interactive products portfolio. This pivotal role is responsible for accelerating the growth of iconic Game Show brands including Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy!, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and Pyramid across mobile platforms and emerging interactive media. You will own the end-to-end mobile and interactive strategy, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver best-in-class gaming. Your expertise in mobile games and interactive experience includes but is not limited: sourcing, negotiating and closing deals, driving revenue for market-leading brands, ownership of relative P&Ls, knowing ever-evolving industry trends, day-to-day management of key external partners across multiple verticals, and engaging current and new audiences. The role will report into the VP of Licensing and Brand Partnerships for Game Shows. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute Game Shows mobile and interactive strategy that aligns with the Vice President’s business objectives and brand vision
  • Portfolio Management: Lead the lifecycle management of mobile game titles and interactive products, ensuring high-quality experiences that optimize player engagement, retention, and monetization across mobile, interactive, console, PC, connected TV, and other platforms
  • Licensing Development: Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and close licensing deals with mobile developers and publishers. Maximize licensing revenue streams.
  • Partnerships & Industry Relations: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with leading mobile developers, publishers, platforms, licensees, and other key stakeholders to unlock new growth opportunities.
  • Innovation & Emerging Platforms: Proactively identify white space and emerging technologies (including Free-to-Play models and new interactive formats) to expand the reach of game show brands into new platforms. Experience in AR/VR/XR a plus.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Be a team player and partner with product development, brand integrations, digital marketing, legal, finance, and leadership teams to deliver and market best in class product
  • Market Insight & Analysis: Continuously monitor mobile gaming trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior to inform strategic decisions and uncover new business opportunities.
  • KPI & Analytical Evaluation: Prepare, interpret, and dynamically deliver KPI and data-driven analyses to leadership about the multiplatform products
  • Financial Management: Oversee budget planning, revenue forecasting, and performance analysis to ensure portfolio profitability and strong ROI

Requirements: 

  • 7+ years of game licensing experience, with at least 5 years in mobile and interactive business development
  • Proven track record in evaluating, negotiating and closing deals, and supporting legal contract process 
  • Strategic thinker with deep understanding of economics behind Mobile, Console/PC
  • Relationships and knowledge throughout the mobile game ecosystem, including developers, publishers, trends, platforms and key people 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, MBA a plus but not required 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence across a variety of personality types and resolve conflicts with competing ideas 
  • Experience with major global game or entertainment brands
  • Deep familiarity with Game Shows portfolio
  • Large breadth of contacts at various game companies including senior leadership

The anticipated base salary for this position is $125,000 to $155,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
