REQ ID JR112775 Apply View Saved JobsSony Pictures Television Studios is seeking a Director, Post Production to join our team. Reporting to the SVP, Post Production & VFX, this role will assist in managing post-production workflows across a diverse slate of scripted projects.
The ideal candidate brings expertise in post-production and VFX operations and global vendor management, with a understanding of production finance and regional tax incentives. This individual will serve as a key partner to production, creative, and business teams—ensuring high-quality delivery while optimizing costs, workflows, and resources across multiple projects and territories.
Core Responsibilities
Post Production Oversight
- Oversee post-production workflows for assigned projects, from pre-production through final delivery
- Partner with showrunners and producers to define post schedules, staffing, and technical strategies
- Ensure consistency in delivery standards across networks, platforms, and distribution partners
- Provide guidance to editorial and finishing teams as needed
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Leadership
- Serve as a key liaison across production, creative, legal, finance, and executive teams
- Provide clear communication and alignment across multiple stakeholders and concurrent projects
- Contribute to long-term planning, resource allocation, and continuous improvement of internal processes
- Mentor and support junior team members; step in to support leadership as needed
Tax Incentives & Financial Coordination
- Partner with production and finance teams to maximize regional tax incentives for VFX and post-production
- Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of qualified spend
- Support accounting and finance teams with required reporting and audit materials
VFX Strategy, Budgeting & Oversight
- Assist in script breakdowns to assess VFX scope, complexity, and budget implications across projects
- Participate in the development and management of VFX budgets, including staffing models and resource planning
- Provide strategic guidance to producers and creatives on achieving creative goals within budget constraints
Vendor & Partner Management
- Identify, evaluate, and recommend VFX vendors, main title houses, and key creative personnel
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global VFX partners and service providers
- Monitor vendor performance and ensure alignment with creative, technical, and delivery expectations
- Assist in managing VFX contracts with vendors and internal departments
Production & Workflow Leadership
- Help oversee post production and VFX workflows from pre-production through final delivery, ensuring efficiency and consistency across projects
- Establish and standardize workflows, tools, and best practices across productions
- Ensure seamless collaboration between internal teams, external vendors, and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of experience in post-production, VFX, or production operations within a studio, network, or production company
- Proven experience managing post production and VFX budgets, vendors, and global production workflows
- Strong knowledge of post-production pipelines, technologies, and delivery standards
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both creative and executive stakeholders
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment
- Proactive problem solver with strong technical acumen and a passion for innovation in production workflows
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and evolving VFX/post-production tools and platforms
- Preferred: Prior experience supervising teams or mentoring junior staff
The anticipated base salary for this position is $135K to $170K. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
