This role partners closely with the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications to develop bold, proactive communications strategies that elevate the Sony Pictures Television brand, amplify the company's business successes, and strengthen its reputation.
As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, this individual will proactively identify opportunities to shape industry conversations, elevate executive thought leadership, and advance the company's strategic priorities through compelling storytelling and impactful communications. The role reports to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications and works closely with executives, business partners, and cross-functional teams across Sony Pictures Entertainment.
From award-winning scripted series and global nonfiction franchises to beloved game shows and one of the industry's largest television libraries, this role will help shape the narrative behind the content, creators, and business strategies that define Sony Pictures Television. Responsibilities
- Partner with the SVP, Corporate Communications to drive strategic communications and media relations initiatives that elevate the Sony Pictures Television brand, advance business priorities, strengthen the company's reputation, and reinforce its position as the world's leading independent studio.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives, providing strategic counsel that anticipates challenges, identifies opportunities, and advances the company's long-term strategy through thoughtful communications planning.
- Proactively identify opportunities to shape industry conversations, elevate Sony Pictures Television's brand, and position the studio and its executives at the forefront of the evolving media landscape.
- Develop high-impact communications campaigns and compelling corporate narratives that showcase Sony Pictures Television's creative excellence, business innovation, industry leadership, and marketplace impact.
- Lead executive communications, including messaging, speeches, talking points, media materials, and executive visibility opportunities that strengthen leadership positioning and advance the company's corporate narrative.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key trade, business, and entertainment media while driving impactful coverage that reinforces the Studio's leadership, innovation, and marketplace influence.
- Lead communications strategies for high-profile business initiatives, internationally distributed titles, global sales events, and strategic partnerships, collaborating closely with network partners, international teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Partner with Marketing, Research, Programming, Distribution, Legal, Government Affairs, Human Resources, and Internal Communications to deliver integrated communications strategies that advance the company's strategic agenda, safeguard Sony Pictures Television's reputation, and ensure consistent messaging across the organization.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the evolving entertainment and media landscape, staying ahead of industry trends, competitive activity, cultural moments, and emerging issues to anticipate reputational risks, uncover strategic opportunities, and help define the company's communications agenda.
- Support senior executives during premieres, industry events, press tours, awards campaigns, upfronts, and other high-profile engagements.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior communications team members while fostering collaboration, continuous learning, and communications best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 12+ years of progressive corporate communications, media relations, or public relations experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing communications strategies that influence business outcomes and support complex organizational objectives.
- Proven ability to serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior executives and influence business outcomes through strategic counsel.
- Demonstrated ability to develop creative, newsworthy communications strategies that shape perception, build brand reputation, and drive meaningful media engagement.
- Strong understanding of the entertainment, television, and media industries, with a passion for staying ahead of emerging trends and industry dynamics.
- Established relationships with key trade, business, and entertainment media.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to translate complex business issues into compelling narratives.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-profile initiatives simultaneously while effectively prioritizing competing business needs.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Experience leading executive communications, organizational messaging, media relations, reputation management, and thought leadership initiatives.
The anticipated base salary for this position is $163,000-$200,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
