The Theatrical Marketing Analytics & Insights team at Sony Pictures Entertainment is looking for a Senior Analyst who thrives at the intersection of data, storytelling, and entertainment. In this high-impact role, you’ll transform audience and campaign data into actionable insights that directly influence marketing strategy, creative development, and audience targeting for our theatrical releases.  We’re seeking a candidate who is technically fluent, insight-driven, and passionate about movies. Ideal candidates will bring analytical rigor, curiosity about entertainment and pop culture, and a desire to shape marketing campaigns that resonate globally.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Analysis & Insights

  • Deliver actionable insights across audience behavior, campaign performance, creative effectiveness, and historical box office trends.
  • Partner with domestic and international teams to craft campaign strategies rooted in trend analysis, social listening, and historical benchmarks.
  • Track and assess audience engagement across digital platforms to support campaign health diagnostics and real-time pivots.
  • Support reporting and research efforts that evaluate campaign health and audience engagement.

Data Visualization & Decision Support

  • Develop intuitive, executive-ready dashboards (Tableau, Excel) that distill complex data into clear, strategic takeaways.
  • Build tools and frameworks that support ongoing optimization of targeting, spend allocation, and creative effectiveness.
  • Collaborate across teams to identify business questions and define measurement approaches.

Data Operations & Quality Control

  • Prepare and integrate audience, creative, and performance datasets, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct quality control checks using SQL and Excel, resolving issues that may affect campaign reporting and insights.
  • Partner with Data Science, IT and Engineering teams to maintain robust, scalable data pipelines and documentation.

Ad-Hoc Analysis & Reporting

  • Respond to custom analysis requests, including marketing campaign performance overviews, cast analytics, or audience & content trend analyses.
  • Input and structure data for specialized reports and presentations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3–5 years of experience in marketing analytics, digital insights, or entertainment research.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling stories from complex data.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through.
  • Passion for movies, marketing, and the power of data to tell compelling stories.
  • Extensive experience with social listening tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Talkwalker, Meltwater, Sprinklr).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (including formulas, pivot tables) and SQL (basic to intermediate querying).
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Working knowledge of social media KPIs and digital performance metrics across platforms (YouTube, Meta, TikTok, X).
  • Understanding of statistical concepts such as correlations and regressions.
  • Basic to intermediate experience with emerging AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc)
  • Exposure to AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) and enthusiasm for experimenting with new technologies.
  • Familiarity with Python is a plus.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $95,000. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
