The transactional business—Electronic Sell-Through (EST) and Video On Demand (VOD)—is a key pillar of SPE's digital distribution, providing consumers widespread access to movies and television shows across platforms and devices. As the business grows, we are focused on maximizing transactional revenue worldwide, adapting to the evolving content landscape and the increasing importance of key global and local retailers, while identifying new growth opportunities.
Sony Pictures Entertainment’s (SPE) office in Sydney, Australia, is currently looking for a candidate to support the growth of the transactional business across both Australia and New Zealand. Reporting into the Head of Transactional, ANZ, this position will assist with the management of transactional platforms (Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Fetch TV, Foxtel Store, Google TV, YouTube etc.) to achieve our transactional sales targets.
The role includes aspects of customer facing support, leading of operational processes, promotional reporting, analysis and general administrative tasks across the transactional team. You will demonstrate skills in verbal and written communication and relationship building. You will also be data savvy demonstrating the ability to identify consumer trends and create platform specific promotional plans based on customer sales data. Proactivity and accountability are highly desired behaviours to showcase day to day.
What you will do:
Supporting the account management team
• Drive EST/VOD transactional sales through supporting the account management team for SPE features and television content across existing and emerging AU and NZ platforms.
- Assist in managing the overall day-to-day relationship and regular meetings with platforms to maximize SPE’s transactional sales.
- Negotiate best possible placement/merchandising of key new releases and promotions on platforms using all available assets (value added materials, social media content, talent access etc.)
- Track and confirm customer execution, title placement, and sales performance.
- Through interaction with platforms, understand their strategies, needs, and opportunities to incorporate into our go to market strategy.
- As appropriate, build and conduct regular product presentations and business reviews with key platforms.
• Create and implement innovative pre & post sales campaigns for SPE features and series.
- Create drafting campaigns and other calendar or concept-based library campaigns, to drive incremental revenue from SPE’s vast library of features and TV series.
- Present campaigns with passion based on understanding of SPE products and marketing capability.
- Working with marketing team to leverage off store marketing activations to drive consumers to our platform’s EST/VOD stores.
• Oversee performance including checking of transactional pricing/promotional strategy for each platform.
- Review and submit for each platform’s promotional calendar, ensuring activities are well-executed.
- Regularly monitor performance, update forecasts, and recommend action as appropriate to improve sales, margin, and share of customer business.
- Analyze and share sales insights to help the team make better commercial decisions.
Collaborating with Operations and regional teams
• Maintain regular contact with key contacts in LA and regional offices as well as other territory teams to apply relevant international best practices to the market.
• Be the internal point of contact for all customer related queries; coordinate with Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Sales Planning teams to deliver excellent overall customer service.
• Lead our operational efficiency with support teams internally and externally, ensuring scheduling, delivery and pricing are correctly executed.
• Oversee censorship process to make sure the process complies with Australia and New Zealand’s regulation and company policy.
• Develop a full understanding of, and align with, Sony governance and standard working practices, strategies and objectives.
What you need:
• Education
- University Degree preferred with a major in marketing, media and or communications being an advantage.
• Experience
- Typically at least 2 years’ relevant industry or commercial experience.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ideal experience in managing operational processes.
- Passion for and ability to speak to key selling points of Sony’s movies and TV series.
- Use data and logic to support recommendations.
- Developed presentation skills
- Experience in customer-facing situations.
- Some knowledge of the content distribution landscape in Australia and New Zealand.
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel.
- Possess an ability to prioritise tasks during periods of high workload.
- Open to feedback and soft skills developmental conversations
- Flexible to accommodate some out-of-business hours work as required, working with teams across US, UK and Asia
